Dating Tips

  1. If you worked all day, take some time to wash up and brush your teeth. You can stop washing after the second date if you think you can get away with it.
  2. Dress as if meeting your date is an important occasion. If you are a very casual person, at least wear a clean T-shirt!
  3. It's a good idea to wash your car and clean out the inside. There is technology now that can do this job for you. It's called a "car wash."
  4. Be on time. No one likes to be kept waiting.
  5. Turn your cell phone OFF. Focus exclusively on your date.
  6. Do not check out other men/women while on a date with someone else.
  7. Going out for the first time can be nerve-wracking. Try not to fidget or fumble with things around you.
  8. Remember to introduce your date to other friends you meet when you're out together.
  9. Listen at least as much as you talk.
  10. Be sure you have either a credit card or enough money with you to cover expenses for both of you.
  11. Come prepared with a few ideas to talk about if the conversation starts to slow down. (And don't worry if it does; it's normal!)
  12. Do not brag or boast about yourself.
  13. Try not to reveal everything about yourself in the first five minutes of a date.
  14. Show your interest in your date by casually touching his or her hand or arm to make a point during conversation…but only if you can carry it off naturally. If it feels forced or awkward, or if your date reacts in a negative way, back off!
  15. Maintain eye contact when speaking with your date. Smile. Relax. Remember, this is supposed to be fun!
  16. On the second date, expand on conversations you had on the previous date, and give some new information about people you met or events that took place (“that restaurant we visited was reviewed in the newspaper yesterday.”)
  17. Above all, be passionate (and persistent) in your search for your SpaceMate™. It’s simply a matter of time until you two meet each other!
